In honour of the best known Estonian-birth painter in the world

Michel Sittow
1469-1525

The buildings at 22 Rataskaevu street have been reconstructed several times (in the XVIII century the cellar was arched). However, various rare pieces from the Middle Ages have preserved in these buildings. The owners of the property next to Toompea, in the vicinity of the rich St. Nicholas Church and mint, are known since the 14th century. The most famous of them is Michel Sittow. His remaining works that show his amazing career as the artist in the courts of kings in Europe, Spain, Denmark, England and so forth are currently being shown in museums and galleries around the world, among those London’s National Portret Gallery, Louvre in Paris, Nationalgalerie in Berlin and in Puškin’s museum in Moscow but unfortunately, not in his hometown.
In respect to this great person, resturaunt “Meister Michel” offers nurishment for the soul.
Here you may view Michel Sittow’s highly valued masterpieces and also order lectures about his time and him.
These masterpieces should turn the exposition in Tallinn into a cultural heritage amongst the people who live in and visit Tallinn.
