In honour of the best known Estonian-birth painter in the world Michel Sittow The buildings at 22 Rataskaevu street have been reconstructed several times (in the XVIII century the cellar was arched). However, various rare pieces from the Middle Ages have preserved in these buildings. The owners of the property next to Toompea, in the vicinity of the rich St. Nicholas Church and mint, are known since the 14th century. The most famous of them is Michel Sittow. His remaining works that show his amazing career as the artist in the courts of kings in Europe, Spain, Denmark, England and so forth are currently being shown in museums and galleries around the world, among those London’s National Portret Gallery, Louvre in Paris, Nationalgalerie in Berlin and in Puškin’s museum in Moscow but unfortunately, not in his hometown.
